Workshop Summary

Weighting Around

Weighting Around

Weighting Around is a one day workshop that is ideal for men and women. It makes no promises, and is not about flat stomachs and bikinis. It is about recognising the ways that our beliefs and thoughts can get in our way and sabotage our efforts to make changes in our habits.

We all have an inner judge who demands that we eat, look, sound and behave a certain way and many come to therapy to help them comply with the demands of that judge. We manage for a short time and then with one setback, it all seems to fall apart. By looking at how and why we eat our food, some practical changes that can make a difference alongside exploring the psychological aspects that can affect our choices, the Weighting Around course explores a more sustainable way to make, and commit, to the changes you want.

If you answer ‘Yes’ to any of the following questions, you might just love the course...

  • Do you ever label yourself as “good” or “bad” based upon what you choose to eat?

  • Do you feel caught up in a cycle of deprivation and indulgence?

  • Do you ever notice that when you have lost weight, you don’t actually feel much different inside?

  • Do you ever notice that certain events, moods or even conversations affect what you choose to eat?

  • Do you ever feel you are eating healthily and yet nothing changes?

  • Do you ever feel like you didn’t actually choose to eat, it just happened?

  • Do you ever notice that you get so far toward your goal and then it all falls apart?

  • Do you ever feel sick of dieting?

  • Do you ever feel that you’re missing out in some way?

  • Do you ever feel bullied by the judge inside making demands about how you should be?

Weighting Around will offer you understanding and tools to help you improve:

  • Your understanding about why you find it hard to stick to your nutritional plans;

  • Your ability to make choices for yourself about what you want and why;

  • Your ability to sustain the changes you make;

  • Your strength to move from wishbone to backbone;
